Lemo Tower
The following information on Lemo Tower, the only 90-degree crossing of catenary wire on the ex-Pennsy, was contributed by Earl D. Karper, Sr., an engineer for Amtrak:
"From an engineer that worked past that tower often, you can be sure that the tower is Lemo Tower. It was located just South of the Susquehanna River bridge from State Tower and Harrisburg Passenger Station. The two tracks on the right-hand side of the picture are almost entirely removed. The track crossing at the diamonds behind the tower is coming off the bridge from the right going to the Shippensburg Secondary Track to the left. Now days, of the tracks passing out of view, only the left of the two still remains. It follows straight-railed around what used to be the West Leg of the Wye and connects to the Shippensburg Secondary Track and has been renamed to be the Shippensburg Secondary Track from Stell Interlocking approximately a mile to a mile and a half West of here. The track from the bridge is gone, as are the diamonds and the rest of the Wye tracks. As you stated on your page, Lemo Tower has been relocated and restored at the Strasburg Railroad. A simple ASCII diagram of the old Lemo Interlocking follows."
