Penn Central Mailing List
The Penn Central Mailing List is a discussion forum for anything concerning the Penn Central....from operations, equipment, tracks, management, sightings, questions and answers, modeling the PC, whatever. All of it will be welcome here. The mailing list runs off of an automated list server, so anything you send to it will be sent to everyone on the list.
An archive (still under construction) of the list (dating back to its start in December 1996) can be found here.
There are two versions of the list: the regular version and the digest version. The regular version sends out each message posted to the list individually. The digest version collects a number of list messages together and combines them into a digest, which is sent out every day or two as needed. This is useful for people who get a high volume of messages already, as you can read an entire day's worth of discussion in one single e-mail message.
To subscribe to the regular list, send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following line as the only text in the in the body of the message:
To subscribe to the digest, send a message to email@example.com with the following line as the only text in the body of the message:
You will receive back notification that you have been subscribed to the list, and will receive more information about the list from the mail server at that time. If you have any questions about the list, feel free to ask me, but do not send subscription requests directly to me, because I don't have time to add people to the list manually. That is why it runs from an automated list server.
If you wish to unsubscribe from one of the lists, follow the same procedure as above but put the word "unsubscribe" in your email instead of "subscribe".
NOTE: If you are subscribed currently to the regular version of the list and wish to change to the digest version (or vice versa), be sure to unsubscribe from the version that you currently subscribed to. Subscribing to the digest will not automatically remove you from the regular list--the list server treats them as separate lists for subscription purposes.
