Plus, the typeface Atlas used for the lettering on the long hood is not even
close to the NYC's style of lettering. The ones the NYC ended up obtaining
came in the black with white frame stripe scheme with the unique oval art -
deco NYC logos on the cab sides. The ones the NYC turned away ended up
being D&H locos. I operated one of them back in 1983 when the NYS&W
borrowed #5000 from them due to all available units bad ordered that day.
It was a slippery running bugger, couldn't pull 13 cars!
