I was on the GG1 we have here in Syracuse; seems like the middle of one is
all boiler for the steam heat system.  I joked about chopping it out and
fitting a 567 in the resulting space, even though you wouldn't be able to
fit much more than the drivetrain from an SW1 in there...   

Anyhow, it would seem like you could run it even cut in half as long as the
electical system was capped off.  Everything is duplicated on both ends
except the unit would run with one pantograph up.  Seal off the back and
you'd need to add some kind of rudimentary pilot if you planned to couple
to anything, but other than that it should be good to go.

Question - what ran the snow blower?  I don't have PC power to see what it
looked like, although if you cut the boiler out of the middle again there's
room for some kind of motor there - maybe even an extra traction motor.
