Folks:
If you weren't there, you missed a terrific convention this past weekend. Dave Hopson put together a great program and also pulled some strings with the guy upstairs to confine the heavy rains to Friday -- the day we were scheduled to be inside for activities.
The modeling display was stunning. The work of Tom Haag, Chip Syme, Larry Lawler, Tom Carter, Fran Richard, Den Lippert, Jerry Jordak, Dave Hopson, Dave Sepos, Blair Davies and several more I'm forgetting was top notch.
The tour of the NS Juniata shops was the convention's highlight. Our 59-member group was broken into three smaller groups and led through the cavernous shops by three exceedingly generous foremen and managers who gave up their own time to show us through the shop. To say it's impressive is an understatement. NS has inherited a hugely talented group of skilled workers. And the good news is that NS is supposed to be hiring more for the shops, the general foreman told us.
Dave Hopson also lined up some impressive slide shows for us. And of couse, you can't beat the railfanning around Altoona.
As a sidenote, it was the first time I'd visited the Railroaders Memorial Museum and I found it to be very interesting. It's worth a trip to Altoona.
The best part about both PC Society conventions I've attended are the people. It's a funloving and good-natured group.
I'm already looking forward to next year's convention in Cleveland and 2006's in Denver.
