The small numbers you referred to are the Amtrak numbers.  Railroad owned 
PV's have a 6 digit number for Amtrak service in addition to any numbers 
given them by the railroad.  Example: CSXT business car 308 carries Amtrak 
number 800308.  
BTW, all except one of the CR business car fleet that went to CSXT has been 
repainted for CSXT.
