I've had no problems with my Athearn F7s, GP9, and S12. Of course, I've 
removed the top metal strap & replaced it with wire. On the S12, I had to 
replace the wheelsets with NWSL parts, due to corrosion. If the wheels are 
kept clean on these engines, they all run fine, unlike certain Bachmann 
Spectum engines I have...
