Hello PC Fans,
Hopefully everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
I have a question about the Penn Central Annual Stock Reports. I've seen
several Annual Reports for the 1967, 1968 and 1969 years but no reports
for years later than those. I was wondering if there were annual reports
for years after these or were they the only years there was a nice
publication. This of course was prior to its bankruptcy. Any help would
be appreciated.
Chuck and listers
The PC did not provide stock reports after the bankruptcy. The bankruptcy court (whose duty it was to protect the assest of the stockholders) assumed the role of stockholder and creditor. The trustees would provide periodic updates about the condition of the PC (in lieu of a stock report to shareholders) to Judge Fullam. In addition to watching over assets, Fullam approved all requests for capital improvements (fixing the Shocks Mills Bridge is just one example). If anyone is interested, the Philadelphia Branch of the National Archives has all the court documents from the PC bankruptcy. Fullam was a student of history so all the documents are convienently numbered for easy reference. Selected documents were also published in a twenty volume work. The full citation is:
Corporate Reorganization Reporter. In the Matter of the Penn Central Transportation Company, Debtor,Reorganization Proceedings, U.S. District Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Washington, D.C.: Corporate Reorganization Reporter, 1981.
Although this work does not contain all the documents, the index (Volume 20) does list all the numbered documents in numerical order.
