PC: Triumph II

Listers

Sorry I forgot to mention this in my last post. I recently received my copy of Triumph II, a history of the PRR / PC / CR operations on the Philadelphia-Harrisburg main line. Although much of the book deals with the PRR, there is considerable photographic coverage (including aerial shots) of the Penn Central era. The coverage includes the Trenton cutoff, P&T, the Atglen and Susquehanna (A&S), detailed coverage of Harrisburg and Enola yards, and interesting discussions of the large bridges at Safe Harbor, Martic Forge (both on the A&S), Rockville Bridge and the collapse and repair of the bridge at Shocks Mills (during the PC era). Engineering diagrams, track charts, and rare photographs make this book a real treat to read. It is a hardcover and is probably available at your local hobby store. The authors name is Messer and it is published by Barnard Roberts Inc.

Triumph I (Altoona-Pittsburgh) is also quite good. I understand that Triumph III (Philadelphia Terminal) is almost complete. Triumph IV (middle division) is also in the works.

Please note that I have no affiliation with the author or publisher and have no financial interest in this book.
