PC: Re: Penn Central Steam Locos-1972 Walthers Catalog

I remember someone raised a stink in the letters page of MR when those
steam decals came out, wrote a highly critical letter about it.   (how do I
remember when I'm only 25?  back issues!)  The chatter about it kept going
for 2 or 3 issues back and forth before they gave it a rest.

My only question is why would you need special decals for a PC steam
engine?  


Incedentally in the 70's AHM offered their Pacific and old-time 0-4-0 in
Conrail paint schemes, if you want to talk ludicrous...  (the 0-4-0 even
used the PC style lettering, but numbering also in that style).  And they
also go for big bucks on eBay.. LOL - wish I hadn't ruined the one I had as
a kid!
