Newspapers are a bad source of data when it comes to railroad issues as they
lack the knowledge and experience of sad topic. They will ask the next door
neighbor for any conflicting reports. That is no news.

I know the areas you speak of better than you.  My uncle lives in the white
house west of 9W in back of the ROW and that bridge over 44-55 was taken
down now last year, but several years ago.  ROW is not obliterated where
track could not be relaid.  The lines would need new track anyway, so what
is your point?

You failed to answer "why NS officials were here in February looking over
the line fior reuse".. You don not think it will happen, then tell that to
NS. Maybe too late to rebuilt the NYW&B bit not Maybrok Line.
