If you're agreeing to disagree, just throwing $$$ would not have worked.
The difference between Conrail and PC can pretty much be summed up in
one word: DEREGULATION. Just throwing money at them would have done
nothing but prolong their death. If deregulation had occured during the
PC's life span, and if there hadn't been so much animosity between
former NYC execs, and former PRR execs, I believe we would still have
mating worms on black locomotives. Just my $0.02 (and believe me, the
government did not throw that, or any other amounts at me, he he he )
