Jer,
I really am getting to be up set with this guy. He is a totally
rude know it all. From the time I have spent working on the EL, BN
and now BNSF I do have some idea of what is going on in the real
world. All I ever said is this may be a reason, not that it was the
reason. I have seen on the rip track some cars from time to time
that look good on the outside but the steel framing is a total mess.
This is caused by water leaking behind the outer shell into the
frame work. Again this is dependent on home much preventitve
work was done by the owning railroad to keep this from happening.
Cars from a profitable railraod like Union Pacific where much more
likely to have been better taken care of then cars from a road like
the New Haven or Penn Central where the dollars where not there
for a lot of preventive mantiance. This is a reason why some cars
are still running and some went to scrapers early.I really think that
this guy needs to tone down his hate or be removed from the list.
