Yes, Penn Central did host some steam. I rode two High Iron Trips 
from Harrisburg around Horseshove Curve and back. Engine used 
was NKP 759. A  $5,000 bet exchanged hands in the PC office car 
on the rear end as to weather 759 would get up the hill or not 
without a helper. She did it in grand style.  Also Steam Tours 
operated several trips from the Pittsburg area around the Curve and 
back using a Reading T-1 4-8-4. Also do not forget that in 1969 the 
Centential Limited begun and ended its trip from New York City to 
Salt Lake City on the Penn Central. NKP 759 also powered this 
train.
