Lets face it people, railfans are an easy target for the railroad police.
Ask yourself this question, would it be easier for you as a cop to deal
with a singular railfan or group of railfans that you know only have
cameras or a bunch of thugs ripping of a boxcar who you don't know what
they are carring?  If I was in that position I would probably harrass the
railfans.  It all looks good at the end of the day, either a crook or a
railfan, they or we are all tresspassing in their book.  Granted there are
some bad apples out there that still think they can roam anywhere they want
to get that photo or take something that they think the railroad does not
need any longer.  Of course, they are the ones that have spoiled it for
everybody.  My answer to this problem, stay off railroad property and take
photo's from public land.  Remember trains can't stop but you can!
