I recall seeing the same episode of 60 minutes and what sticks in my mind is a
scene of a PC engine flat switching some boxcars and one of them rolling so
bad, on account of the bad track joints,  that it went completely over on its
side.  The PC wasn't the only RR in that era with bad track, because while
railfanning the C&NW in Sterling Illinois with a friend in the mid 70's,  we
saw a boxcar take about a 45 degree roll WITHOUT going over on it's side.
