History not learned is often repeated.

What I find remarkable is that just 6 or 7 years ago, the airlines faced "doom" 
of a sort. What they did should be a model to the US auto makers:

The airlines cut pensions, cut salaries and survived.

I have a friend that's a pilot for United, and he said he was happy to still have 
a job.  Yup, he lost his pension, took a 30% salary cut, but never lost a day 
of work.
