PC: Another Nail in the Coffin

January 1 is the anniversary of the New Haven becoming part of the Penn
Central in 1969. This burden was one of the conditions of the merger that
was dictated by the government. Taking over the New Haven allowed PC to
lose an extra million dollars a day, and this privilege only cost PC a
sixth of a billion dollars, give or take a few million.
