PC: RE: Penn Central Digest V7 #34

I think it would be a nice attempt at what might have been. I remember
when they started placing sheet metal to protect the cars while in
transport. This would have been around 1974-1975 around Hinsdale Ill.

I am looking for a shot of PC GP-38 7777 on the engineer's side taken in
=
1976. I have a shot of the firemans side from that time period and I =
want to be able to weather my model as close to protype as I can. I did
=
check Fallen Flags web site and they do have a shot of it, but it does =
not show me the weathering and is a bit earlier than I am modeling as it
=
was taken in 1969.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Dale DeVene

Uh... I think it's safe to say it's totally bogus. The very first fully
en=
closed racks didn't come out until like '76 or '77 anyway. In addition,
th=
e PC partially-enclosed racks used the new Trailer Train yellow scheme
with=
the modern lettering. There is some remote chance, I suppose, that
someon=
e at PC or Conrail put a modern rack on old NYC 89' flat and attached
the P=
C signs to it... but I doubt it. Nver say never when it comes to the PC

Sure, why not? It'll look great coupled behind a PC SD70MAC-C44AC
lashup
and some PC TrailVan doublestacks!

There's a shot of the engineer's side of 7777 in the book "Triumph
VIII" on page 192. Hope this helps.
