RE. Castleton Bridge
The Correct name is the Alfred H. Smith Memorial Bridge. Alfred H. Smith
was president of the New York Central from 1914 to 1924, except for when the
road was under federal control, when (I believe) was federal manager. He was
killed in a riding accident in Central Park in New York City in 1924.
He is often confused with Alfred E. Smith, Governor of New York in the
1920's and the Democratic presidential nominee in 1928.
