GARDENVILLE  TURNTABLES - THE ANSWER

Early Tuesday evening I attended a gathering of rail fans at the Depew 
Station just outside Buffalo, NY.  There were introductions and warm 
greetings with Fred, Jack and Charlie.

Jack, with over 44 years on the NYC, Penn Central and Conrail, has fired 
steam and been a hostler at Gardenville, as well as running passenger 
trains. Charlie, with over 45 years on the NYC, Penn Central and Conrail, 
has also fired steam and been a hostler at Gardenville, as well as running 
passenger trains.

The discussion of Gardenville was immediately brought up.  Without a 
doubt, there was only ONE (1) turntable at Gardenville.  With a crude copy 
of an early 1950's photo that I had brought, I was shown where the coal, 
sand, water, and ash structures were located.  The boiler house was 
identified as was the well known turntable and roundhouse.

The round (or what I believe to be round) object at the West end of the 
engine terminal, that I thought could be a second turntable, is still a 
matter of discussion.  It is hoped that a future meeting at the library 
that has the better aerial photographs will bring to light the true 
identity of this object.

In conclusion, one turntable at Gardenville,  period.

Again I would like to thank all who responded to my query about 
Gardenville. Especially to Fred and his great friends Jack and Charlie.
