Hello Bob H. and list,
 Taking my time responding th the E-8 question.  An explination for the
ex-PRR E-8 with NYC parts added might be that since some of them were in
captive service on the ex-NH Shore Line the only source of E-8 specific
parts would have been the former NYC facility at Beacon Park.   The New
Haven had FL-9s and parts for these would have been available in both
Boston and New Haven but some pieces were unique to the E series and so
would only be available locally from the NYC parts supply in Boston.
