All,
Hide the women and children, and get your pocketbooks ready...
As info, there will be a new Penn Central book hitting the store shelves
shortly. This is another one of Motorbooks' Railroad Color History books,
and the recent ones have been hardbound and quite well done. I've attached
an e-mail I received from the author, Peter Lynch.
I did some Googling and found a page from the publisher with more info:
http://www.motorbooks.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/mbi.woa/wa/details?id=80012
BTW, I have no connection to the publisher or the author, but just wanted
to pass along something that I'm sure most PC fans will be interested in.

Perhaps some members will find this to be of interest. On about April 19,
2004 my book entitled "Penn Central Railroad" will be available from
Motorbooks of St. Paul, MN. This book describes the history and operation
of the Penn Central from 1968 through 1976. A chapter is devoted to
passenger operations and six chapters cover each of the Regions (Eastern,
Central, Western, Northern, Southern and Northeastern). Each of these six
chapters has a map showing where the Region ran. There are 160 pages with
150 photographs - 100 color & 50 B/W. This book is in a similar format to
the one I published with MBI on the New Haven Railroad in 2003. This book
will be available from the publisher direct, amazon.com for $24.47 or from
various bookstores within a few weeks.
As information I started on the New Haven RR and then worked on Penn
Central and Conrail in operations. Currently I work on construction
projects along the New Haven Line in CT.
