Hi guys,
Here are some PC and "other" goodies for sale. As always, hope you can use
something for your collection! Prices do not include shipping. Please email

1. Penn Central tape measure. 6' circular gold tape measure, with the PC
name & logo in the middle in green on a white background. $12.50
2. PC Passenger service employee lapel pins. These are 5/8" X 1 1/8" metal
pins in the shape of the PC logo with a beautiful gold finish. "Metal Arts:
Rochester NY" hallmark on the back. Single pin (normally worn as a pair).
$7.50
3. PC Playing cards: Double deck- green/white and white/green PC name & logo
on background. Both decks are wrapped in the original plastic inside a felt
box with the PC name & logo embossed in white. Near mint condition. An item
from the official PC company gift catalog $25
4. PC tie tack: Gold PC logo in the original clear plastic box. Another item
from the official PC company gift catalog Have 2 in mint condition! $10 each
5. PC tie bar: Same item, but a tie bar with an alligator clip. Another item
from the official PC company gift catalog Also in the original clear plastic
box. Very good condition, with just a little green tarnish (should clean up
nicely). $10
6. PC Metroliner paperweight: A nice metal casting of a Metroliner car with
the words "PENN CENTRAL" raised on one side of the base and the PC logo
raised across one end of the base. Yet another item from the official PC
company gift catalog. MINT condition. $10
7. PC Locomotive Engineer certification exams: Think you know how to run a
locomotive? Here's a good way to find out! 4 booklets are included: an older
"single" exam (from 1970), and then a 3-part exam from 1971 (first, second
and third progressive exams), with each of the three progressions testing a
different facet of the job. These are original PC-made photocopies, stapled
at one corner, complete with answers. Each booklet is about 14-17 pages, and
all are in excellent condition. $14 for a set of 4 tests.
8. PC Employee timetables: All in very good condition $5 each.

9. PC Northeast Corridor Region Employee Timetable #11. This was the last
one issued by PC, effective 1974. This one is 1.5 inches thick & includes
updates into early Conrail. Entire book shows normal wear, but good
condition overall. $7
10. PC C.T. 400 PC Rules For Conducting Transportation- Supervisor's copy.
146 pages of everything required to keep the trains running. Info on using
the radio, horn, signals, forms, just about everything! This is a common
book, but this particular one is unusual in that it has a spiral binding,
which indicates it was a supervisor's copy (some supervisors had
personalized hardcovers to place their book inside of). Excellent condition
except for minor damage on the cover. $8
11. Same book, but regular employee's copy with a stapled and black tape
binding. Mint condition. $4
12. PC Public timetable blowout! Nearly 40 different public timetables. A
few duplicate forms (but with different issue dates). A really interesting
cross-section of all the PC TTs: system, local (Phila, NY & Chicago), TDI,
etc. 1 or 2 EARLY AMTRAK (some still have references to PC on them). Between
35-40 pieces total. $15
13. PC POLICE Dept. parking pass: 5 X 11 (approx.) inch manila cardstock
reads: "Penn Central Transportation Co." "OFFICIAL" (in large letters) "no:"
(has 3 digit number)"issued to:" (blank space for name)"by: PCT Co. Police
Dept. Cleveland OH." Has large green PC logo also. These were used mainly in
Cleveland Union terminal for employees, etc. who had to park their personal
autos at the station. Have many- $4 each. 3 for $10, 10 for $20. GREAT
display & conversation item. Rare to find any paper items from the PC police
dept.
14. PC clear plastic 12 OZ. drinking cup. Says "Penn Central - Route Of The
Metroliners" around the middle of the cup. $4
15. PC Metroliner wax paper cup. 12oz. size with the PC name & "Route Of the
Metroliners" spelled out on the side. Excellent condition $4

17. Track Chart: PC Eastern Region New Jersey Division. Same style book as
above, but dated 1-74. Some silverfish damage around the edges of the first
couple pages (no information is lost due to damage). Good condition
otherwise. $20
18. PC Safety Rules- Train, Locomotive and other Transportation Employes
Orange Cover 7/1/68. Very good condition- staples a little rusty. $2.50
19. EC-99 Brake & Train Air Signal Instructions rulebook. All about brakes-
very nice condition. $2.50
20. PC Playing cards- Double deck: PC "Mutual Associates- 100 Years of
Service to Railroad Employees". Mutual Associates was the PC's main employee
insurance company and came from the NYC side of the merger. One deck is
blue, the other, red. Both have a steam engine in the middle & gold
lettering. Decks are unwrapped but complete and in mint condition. Comes
complete in the original clear plastic box, which makes a perfect way to
display them. $7.50
21. Set of 5 PC stock certificates: PC had 6 total stocks- included are 5 of
the 6: CAPITAL STOCK 100 shares (blue); CAPITAL less than 100 shares
(brown); COMMON STOCK less than 100 shares (tan); COMMON 100 shares (pink);
COMMON more than 100 (purple). All 5 in very nice shape. $19 for all 5.
22. PC POST employee mags. $2 each Have MANY issues.let me know which you're
looking for.
23. PRR rulebooks. All in good condition unless noted. $3 each
a. PRR book 20-C Instructions for handling Acetylene & Gas Cylinders,
etc.
b. PRR 225-E HAZMAT handling book. Red cover is somewhat soiled, but
book is excellent otherwise.
c. PC HAZMAT book. Red w/ gray "speckles" on cover. This is the
hardest of the 3 PC revisions to find. Good condition.
d. PRR Special Instructions Governing Operation Of Signals and
Interlockings- 1964 Lots of red underlining done by an employee- very good
condition otherwise. 13 pages.
e. PRR Machinery Examinations for Locomotive Firemen- 1949- 140 pages.
f. PRR G-22 Memorandum and Cash Book. Someone used a few pages and
then tore them out. Like new otherwise- blank pages.
g. PRR Safety Rules for Maintenance of Equipment and Stores Employes.
1963 edition in very good condition, with some slight damage to the cover,
which detracts very little.
h. PRR Maintenance Instructions General No. 2 CT2901-A: Inspection and
Coding of Empty Freight General Service Freight Cars, etc.
i. 3 union agreement rulebooks between various unions & PRR. All 3
books for $3!
24. PC/PRR Rulebooks $5 each.
a. PRR Electrical Operating Instructions (CT 290)- all kinds of
electric info. regarding GG1's and other electrics, as well as catenary,
etc. Very good condition.
b. PC Electrical Operating Instructions- same book, but updated with
E44 info, as well as all the same info as found in the PRR book. Have 3.
c. PRR Instructions to Passenger Enginemen, Trainmen, Car Inspectors
and Repairmen regarding operation of the Common Standard universal Type UC
Passenger Car Brake Equipment. Booklet from 1913 in near mint condition!
d. PRR Air Brake Examination Questions And Answers for Car Inspectors
and Car Air Brake Repairmen -1943 LOTS of great fold-out graphic air brake
charts for specific brake systems.
e. PRR Air Brake Examination Questions And Answers for Locomotive
Enginemen, Firemen, Hostlers, Conductors, and Trainmen- 1961. Again, LOTS of
great fold-out graphic air brake charts for specific brake systems. Over 150
pages.
f. same book as "e", but the 1942 issue.
g. PC HAZMAT book. Last version from 1975 with dark red hardcover &
screw/post binding. Near mint condition.
25. PRR Juniata Material Management Dept. pen: Green w/ silver PRR logo and
lettering. Has "work safely for happy living" slogan on the side. Has
Manufacturer's wording "US Pencil Co. NYC" on the shirt pocket clip. $9
26. CONRAIL BIC pen. CR logo & "Write your own safely record. Columbus
Division/ Southern Region" on the side. Have 2- $3 each- both for $5.
27. PRR stock certificates: Orange with your choice of either the Horseshoe
Curve or the Pennsylvania State Seal vignette. $4 each, 1 of each style for
$6. 10 stocks (your choice which style or a mix of both) $20. 50 stocks for
$45.
28. GP38-2 Operator's Manual. Green softcover from 1972. This does not have
PC's name on it, but it came from a PC engineer. Very good, clean condition.

29. "The Modern Locomotive Handbook" from 1974, published by the Railway
Fuel and Operating Officers Association. First I have ever seen or heard of
this pocket-sized 188-page book. It lists all the current models of the day
by EMD, GE & ALCO. EMDs include GP30, 35, 38, 39, 40 as well as SD35, 38,
39, 40 & 45. GE products include U23B/C, 25B/C, 28B/C, 30B/C, 33B/C, 36B/C.
ALCO's include C420, C424, C430, C628, C630, C636. Comparisons by HP,
tractive effort, capacities, etc. are listed in charts. Lots of photos,
diagrams, charts, controls, all kinds of good stuff in here! Not PC, but
came from the same PC employee mentioned earlier. Employee made notes
throughout the book. An EXCELLENT book in very good condition. $28
30. Conrail Locomotive Data book. Pocket-sized book, 60 pages in length from
1986. Inside is all manner of information about CR's locomotive fleet.
Everything is listed by locomotive model (GP40, B23-7, etc.) Year the loco
was built (and rebuilt), gear ratios, top speed, which had snow plows, dual
controls, cab signals, event recorders, fuel capacity, hump control, etc.!!!
This is a great little book. If it were Penn Central, it would be in my
bookcase & not on this list! Not sure I should let this one go (even though
it's Conrail), but.the first $20 bill takes it.
31. "Management of Train Operation and Train Handling". Black hardcover book
put out by the Air Brake Assn. Again, owned by the same PC employee. Good
condition. Notes made by employee at places. Lots of photos, charts, etc. on
everything to do with starting, stopping and running a train. $9
32. Norfolk Southern 2001 calendar. Very nice photography at various points
on the NS system, one picture per month. Large format. Mint condition. $3
33. Brotherhood of Locomotive engineer's calendars. 1989 "Nineteenth Century
Steam Locomotives", 1991"Romance of the Rails" and 2001 modern train photos-
one per month. All 3 calendars- $8
