Nick,
There
was one of those Metroliner paintings on Ebay a few years ago. It did not get a
bid (opening bid was $500, with a reserve). I talked to the seller & he said
he would sell for $600 outright. I was not interested at that time & like an
IDIOT, I threw out his name/number.
It was an oil on canvas of a Metroliner
& he said it was painted in the 80's- well past the PC era. Even
so, it was a beautiful piece... it sounds like about the same size as the
painting you described. I wonder if it's the same one..???

Ha - just kidding.
Someone inquired about original PC company
art. The only piece I am aware of (and like an idiot did not purchase)
was a large 36" x 48" oil of the Metroliner in PC garb. I do not know
who it was done for (Budd, GE etc.) but it was obviously a commercial
advertising type piece. I saw it for sale at the York TCA meet several
years ago.
The PC was selling off some of its PRR art holdings during
the famous auction in 1972 so it was probably not commissioning new work.
However I would certainly be interested in hearing of any as well.
Nick
