According to New York Central Systems Diesel Locomotive page 165 "No.
2858 and 2859 were ordered and paid for by the NYC as U30Bs, but in a
special deal with GE were delivered as field test units of a U-33B
configuration. They were later changed and re-rated as 3000HP units to
better blend with the other 58 units of the class"

On the subject of NYC units, did all their F units have dynamic brakes?
