May 29, 1973 E40 #4971 burns in GCT. Prior to this 4975 was stored in
Feb. 1973.
 4970, 4972, 4978 and 4979 were scrapped in Oct./Nov. 1972
 4974 and 4976 were stored earlier in 1972
 This would seem to leave two operational units is service as of May 30,
1973.
