The RS-11s were the first engines delivered in what would later become
standard black paint with white stripe on the frame.  Photos of these
engines really stick out, because of the unusual herald under the cab -- a
modernized traditional oval (but not the "watermelon").  See

In a strange twist, they did end up wearing lightning stripes, although not
