Last year sometime I posted this question on a Conrail board and a member from the UK gave me some good information.  At this moment I don't have it in front of me.

>From memory I know Conrail units ended up there in the early 1980s.  There is a website downunder that had some photos of at least one of the units.

Some, if not all, of the engines have been rebuilt and are owned by mining companies.

I'll look for my information and post it to this list.
