When Tiger Valley Models first started producing its ALCOs back in the early
eighties, they stood alone, as they were the only available models for many
prototypes, other than brass. Then, one by one, the models that he produced came
out in highly-detailed plastic, first by Atlas, and now Stewart. TVM engines are
made of spin-cast metal which simply cannot hold the detail that plastic can. I
am not slamming his product, I am only describing the limitations of his
process. On the plus side, if you order a specific locomotive, say LV C420 #409
in August 1972, it will have every exact detail as the prototype did in 8/72!
TVM models are also extremely heavy, and can out-pull just about anything.
