According to the 2nd Diesel Spotters Guide:
The early VO-660's and VO-1000's built in 1939-1940 had the oval opening, and
side radiator grills towards the front, and were more pointed in front.
Later carbodies from late 1940 on had a rectangular front grill and a
slightly pointed front end.
