The Front of an RDC is the end from which the engineer is operating the car or
train of RDC cars, since these cars are bidirectional in operation. At the end
of the run, the engineer simply cuts out the controls at one end of the car or
train and cuts them in at the opposite end to begin the return trip. Electric
Multiple Unit cars, both single and married pairs are operated the same way.
In the case of the married pair of MU cars, either cab end can be the Front
end. I hope this helps clear things up for you.
