No, Not steam generators on a passenger car? Would never fit. I said 
each car had a Generator with Spicer Drive attached to axle. When HEP 
fails, there are no lights, AC, Heat where on PC amd other steam 
heated cars when there was no heat (which was rare) there still was 
lights and AC.

Amtrak will never match the passenger service PC had. Amtrak which is 
the govt and trains do not mix. The service is politically motivated, 
so if a politican is not pro-rail along a once passenger line, it 
will not get restored. Passenger trains are for the public and not 
for political gain as case in point here. Politics and rails do not 
mix
