With all the computer gear that is being put on locomotives these days, I very
much f ear that is what could happen. Trains being able to be operated without
a human crew aboard, which is a good way to drive up welfare costs in the
affected states and communities making one more reason why welfare reform is
very apt to blow up in the faces of the implementing authorities who have not
given any thought of what is liable to happen if you get too many people
thrown out of work. The Lionel type of operating trains should never ever be
allowed on any of our railroads. Think of what could happen if an unmanned
freight train struck a car or a loaded bus at a grade crossing. That is very
frightening.
