Conrail is going to operate the shared asset areas in New Jersey,
Philadelphia, and Detroit for its two owners, making Conrail, essentially a
terminal railroad, while Norfolk Southern and CSX perform the line haul
services. So, actually Conrail will still be around, but in the form of a
terminal railroad for the shared asset areas.
