My guess is that the Technical in the name of a Railroad Historical and
Technical Society refers to the actual nuts and bolts aspect (mechanical) of
actually operating the railroad and the Historical refers to how the railroad
came about and evolved into its present form if you are referring to a carrier
still in business, or final form before it went out of business or merged into
a larger system. I hope this will help answer this question.
