this is just another hoax. it is not possible to open a virus simply by
reading an e-mail - has anyone ever heard of an automatically downloading
attachment opening itself up? Plus if you use a system like Pine I'd
think it would make major news for a virus opened by reading the mail to
crash the entire system, be it on a school campus or a major serivce
provider - since in that system the messages are never actually ON your
computer - just delete it, assuming you even get it, and forget about it.
