come to think of it, I've seen ONE covered hopper with a NYC logo on it.
it was a partial paint out in a string that sat near Syracuse for a few
weeks one summer. (1994?) I usually see either PRR or EL cars where they
never washed them before painting them - a couple of memorable occasions,
I've seen cars with brown, green and grey paint visible and at least half
of a can opener, worms and keystone all showing!
