It is possible that he might have some very similar looking cars, likely P70s
that are used in work train service. The only such equipment that I have ever
seen like this was all painted yellow, alternating between PC and early CR
lettering. As for early CR stencils for remarking locomotives, The C and the R
in Penn Central were just the right shape that they could have been used to
restencil locomotives. I am pretty sure the MP54s were all gone by the time
Conrail was formed as Penn Central and its contracting transit authorities
retired these cars at a rapid rate as the new Silverliners and Jersey Arrows
were delivered. I hope this helps clear this up.
