It sounds like your father is talking about some of the stored 
equipment that was kept in Sunnyside Yards in an out of service 
condition.  I hired onto Penn Central as a Fireman in '74 and these 
cars were there then but were not in service.  I never ventured into 
them but I understood that if you felt certain "urges" some of the 
lady laborers or car cleaners would meet you over there for a "joust" 
if you know what I mean! I have no personal knowledge of this 
fortunately.  I noticed that these cars disappeared and how/where I 
know not.  This is all I can say about your question, good luck.
