Unfortunately, the registers only have the series with no notes to the
actual car numbers within these series.
>Also, any X32's in 1970?
None listed that I could find having been renumbered into a Penn Central
series. There were X32s in PRR paint in 1970 & 1972.
> Hmm, why would the X31 show up in 1970 but not 1969?
The reason for this is that the X31s were shopped and RENUMBERED into the
Penn Central series sometime after the 1969 register and prior to the 1970
register. The two cars in question would still have been lettered PRR in
1969.
There are many X31 and X32 cars still with PRR reporting marks in 1970 and
1972, But only two cars appear to have gotten the full Penn Central paint
and renumbering treatment.
The 1979 equipment register shows five X31s with PRR reporting marks in
service.
Two of the car numbers are: 70364 (double door) and 81081 (single door).
The other three are in series #76406-81081.
