BTW, when I wrote about the New York Central photo with the woman and the
conductor in Nowak's book, I was reffering to the fact that the New York
Central did this to make the trains seem appealing, just as the airlines were
using gorgeous woman as stewardesses in those days. It was for the Public
Relations Dept. obviously. It was only fair when you think about it, the New
York Central was only fighting back with this! I'm sure woman like that would
never have ridden those New York Central trains by that time when a car would
have raced them down the New York State Thruway. Did Penn Central ever
bothered using ad's like this to attract riders, or didn't they even bother?
