These have been listed in Barhadrt's catalog that comes out once a month or
so for a while now; asking price was listed as 46K/ea. Seems like the two
are original PRR units that are restored to correct numbers and so forth,
and they had been stored on the R&N someplace as mentioned. with R&N so
desperate for 6-axle power it's a wonder they didnt try 'em in freight
service! lol -
the specs say they both were R/B in 1974 with 2 12-645BC power assemblies
for a total of 2500 HP. interestingly enough at 46K they are the cheapest
engine listed and are even cheaper than the S4 on the same page with a Cat
3412 engine (55 K).
