Someone suggested this might be a sign for a gondola, but I checked
my Jan 76 ORER and PC didn't have any cars w/ 4 digit numbers at
that point in time anyway....

>From memory ( alert: this function ain't what it used to be <g>), PC
gons that had plates attached for logo etc ( typically only on exPRR
corrugated side models) had the P C and the number on one plate
and the PC logo on another ( reporting mark/car number plate on the
left side and logo plate on the right side of the car).

The size of the numbers do sound like car number material, could
this be from some MOW equipment??
