The E-33's numbered from 4601-4610, C-C, 3300hp, ugly as they were, were a
"bargain" to the New Haven. 10 made it to Conrail and several were painted
blue. They were equipped with ignition-rectifier tubes, which converted the
overhead AC power to DC. They had a transformer which allowed them to use
Diesel-electric type traction motors. They also had dynamic brakes. Buitl
from 10-1956 to 2/1957, they were all retired by 1980. They came from the
Virginian Railway (N&W) New Haven Bought all 12 for $200,000 On the New
Haven, they were painted Warm orange with silver stripes.
