Good evening, PC fans! A few things to pass along:
First, you probably have noticed by now that Penn Central Railroad Home
Page has been given a new look and uses frames. This was a topic of
much debate for myself, but I decided it would be worth it. A non-frames
version is available for users who prefer not to use frames or have web
browsers which are not capable of frames. I have received a few emails
from people who like the new look, so I'll take that as a vote of
success for the new image. I appreciate the support.
I've added new photos in the Locomotive Photo Galleries. I rearranged
the Locomotive Photo Gallery into several pages because the single
page was getting too large and taking too long to load. Each locomotive
manufacturer now has its own page, along with a page for electric
locomotives. Note that electric and MU passenger equipment is still
found under the Freight Car Galleries. I'll fix that eventually.
The new pictures come from Bob Redden; Dale DeVene, Jr.; and Harv
Kahn and are in the Alco and EMD Locomotive Photo Galleries.
I know that I've been a little behind with updates, but the month of
August has been pretty busy for me, and when the weather has been
good, I've been going out on evenings and shooting Conrail trains. This
is the last summer of Big Blue, so it's time to make the most of it.
Question for the list: A few of the pictures that I have posted or have
in the queue are from the PRR's Meadows Yard in Kearny, NJ. Does that
yard still exist, and does Conrail still use it, and if so, what for?
Just curious. Thanx.
Also, I'm halfway through tape #1 of the Green Frog Penn Central video.
So far, it's been excellent! Makes me wish I was born 20 years sooner...
Later,
-Jer
