PC Railroad Home Page update news:
In the early 1970's (please let me know if you know the exact year),
the Penn Central took their commuter lines out of New York City and
created their own region--the Metropolitan Region. This was done to
help contain and isolate the costs of operating money-losing commuter
rail services.
I have had to do the same thing on the Penn Central Railroad Home Page.
Thanks to the gratitude of Harv Kahn and Dale DeVene Jr., I had over
70 new PC pictures to hang in the Photo Galleries. Because of the number
of pictures I have received from the New York commuter lines, I created
the Metropolitan Region Photo Gallery for these pictures. (Please note
that while I have the Photo Galleries broken into Regions, they do not
represent the regions of the PC at any one period of time. Rather, they
are names of regions which existed during the PC era, but not necessarily
during the entire PC era, as PC reorganized their divisions a few times.
(If anyone has info on what regions existed when, I'd love to hear
from you!) The new Metropolitan Region Photo Gallery has 9 new pictures,
while the New Jersey Division of the Eastern Region has 7 new pictures
in it.
I still have 50-some pictures in the queue, so this should keep your
webmaster busy for a while.....
Lastly, we're up to 107 subscribers on the PC Mailing List. I never
expected to make 25 subscribers, let alone 100! Thank you all for your
support of the mailing list and the web site. It's what helps keeps
me going at it.
Later,
-Jer
